Tag You're It! Challenge #31 - LEAF

For this week's inspiration tag I selected to use one single leaf, although there are two images the lighter color was stamped off.  I began by putting three shades of ink on my craft mat, spritzing with water and then placing a piece of watercolor on top, lightly tapping and letting the piece dry.  Next I stamped off the image in brown applied to the paper and then stamped in black and heat embossed.  The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed also. This piece along with I  a discontinued piece of SU cardstock were die cut and a hole punched in both pieces.  Organza ribbon and a piece of red jute were attached at the top of the tag and then I added three pieces of bling.

CAS(E) this sketch! #142

This card for CAS(E) this Sketch! I have used a stencil and distress inks and a die cut. I began by masking off part of the stencil and then dabbing on two shades of distress ink.  On a second piece of paper I dabbed more ink and then die cut the word, and then die cut the word again on black foam.  I attached the focus piece onto a piece of white card stock and then adhered some black and orange bling.

2015 Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop #3

2015 Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop #2

This is my second card for Amy's blog hop.  The stamp is from Purple Onion and Willard the Bear is enjoying a cup of Pumpkin Pie Latte.  He is dressed in a nice warm fleece scarf.  Note his pink cheeks as it is cold outdoors.  But not here in Southern California, no siree bob, it continues to be hot and humid.  Oh give me a warm fleece scarf.

Willard was stamped on kraft paper and colored with pencils.  The scarf is paper pieced and the mug has a dab of Glossy Accents.  I added the sentiment and die cut this piece and then tweaked a snippet of blue before attaching to the base card.

2015 Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop

This is an old stamp that I have had and used a lot, but I think I sold it because it can't be found. I did find a stamped image in my UFO box and colored it with Copics in fall colors. I matted the image onto kraft paper and attached some hemp cord onto the back and then mounted onto the dsp. Next I attached the cut up stamped sentiment. These pieces were matted on kraft paper and then to the base card.

Merry Monday #172 - WATERCOLORS

There are times when cards come together with ease, and this one did not.  Actually it came close to being deposited in the dreaded bin.  But I am a firm believer that we should not throw something out because the time may come when inspiration will lead you to pick up the card again.  Corny?  Well I have been anxious to make a card using this stamp set but it began with the inking not covering, even using Misti.  I used distress inks (picked raspberry, barn door, dusty concord), an acrylic block and aqua pen to color and then a spritz of water.  Still I  was not happy.  After letting the paper dry I used colored watercolor pens, a multiliner pen and some Inka gold. I applied a lot of Wink of Stella and matted the wc paper with a lovely piece of textured gold paper.  Am I thrilled, no, but it is nice enough to give to a friend.

CASology Week 165: CIRCLES

My card making group is a part of the Sewing, Etc. club.  For our October luncheon all members are asked to bring something they have made that is orange.  This group of ladies are multi-talented and the Etc. part includes card making, jewelry making, knitting and quilting.  The items will be diversified but I must say that the quilting items are phenomenal, so having said that a little CAS card will not get the oohs and ahhs, but it will be appreciated.  So this card is one of about three or four I will share, each one showcasing a different technique.

This is a NBUS stamp set which I just received from Purple Onion.  I had been admiring the flower stamp for some time and what is unique is there are four stamps that you can use in the center.  So I chose the one with the most circles. As usual I stamped (no embossing) the flower and the sentiment and then colored with Copics.  Glossy Accents was applied to the smaller circles in the center of the flower.  After trimming the focal piece I mounted it onto the base card.

Tag You're It! Challenge #30

This is my first entry for Tag You're It! and my inspiration came from Mary Beth Lopez's card. All of her cards are inspiring but I really liked the cupcake. I chose to use this Tim Holtz stamp which I colored with Copics and used Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents. I added the sentiment from MFT. For the tag I used a die cut that I cut so it was not so long. I also attached a cute piece of paper that has cupcakes. The two pieces were attached with ribbon and baker's twine. This was attached to a piece of white card stock, with rounded bottom, and I added some pink rhinestones.

Addicted to CAS: LEAVES

The inspiration for this fall tree was a photo I took on a trip to the Grand Canyon two years ago. I referred back to the photo to color the leaves. The picture was taken in the parking lot of the hotel and there was a long row of probably six trees amassed in color. 

I began by stamping the tree trunk and branches in brown and then stamped each leaf in different directions and colored with Copics. Then using a mask I lightly sponged blue and then stamped the sentiment. This focal piece was then die cut and attached to the white card base.

Merry Monday #171 Sentiment Focal Point

This card for Merry Monday was CASED from a video I viewed of Kylie Purtell's. I rubbed distress inks onto an acylic block and spritzed with water and placed  watercolor paper on top and lightly tapped. When the paper was completely dry I stamped the background stamp and let it dry. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed and the image was attached to two pieces of colored card stock and lastly I attached some bling.

CASology: UMBRELLA

California has been struggling with heat, humidity and fires. The fires are in the northern part of the state and not close by. However, the heat and humidity are everywhere. Tuesday when I awoke I said to myself, "oh happy day." Really. It had rained and a good rain and too much in some areas. I had the first full night's sleep in ages and I felt good. It was fortunate the cue word at CASology was umbrella and I knew what I wanted to make even before I got out of bed.

I began by stamping the image on a snippet of paper with VersaFine and heat embossed and I colored the handle with black marker. Next I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed and then glued the umbrella which I had paper pieced. The clear acrylic crystals were attached and then I mounted onto the base card.

Following the sketch I used washi tape on the bottom of the base card, stamped the pink image and then the sentiment. The sheep was attached with pop-ups.

NBUS Challenge #5

This is my second card for Darnell's NBUS challenge. The stamp which I have not used before was purchased at a garage sale over a year ago. I colored with Copics and added Glossy Accents in the center of the flowers and the bird eggs. After trimming the image I matted it and added pink cs which I had trimmed with a border punch. The base card is printed from Lasting Impressions. I chose not to add a sentiment on the outside.

Seize the Birthday

Once a month I attend a SU! workshop, make a few cards and then go out to lunch with a friend. Last month was a different set up and we chose stamps and then colored them. I also gave a brief talk about Copic markers.  A month has gone by and I never finished any of the five cards and the next workshop is Monday, so I have been finishing all the cards. I always do better creating cards on my own, and when in a card making class I never do well. Having the chance to bring these colored images home I made some cards that has my touch.

The image was colored with Copics at the last workshop and this week I die cut it as well as the blue paper, which was then embossed. I added this neat sentiment from Paper Onion and I love the style of the font. Glossy Accents was applied to the flowers.

This week in Southern California has been miserable with heat and humidity, the temps are 5 to 15 degrees higher than usual and yesterday it was in the low 90's and we leave close to the beach. All I do is sit with the fan blowing on me and make cards. We are trying hard not to use the AC because of the fear of a brown-out (no electricity) and I keep the living room closed up which means there is not good light to take a photo. So below is my set up for this photo. The fan is on the right. Thank goodness for the Ott light. 

I don't usually submit one card to more than one challenge but I am giving it a try today.

CAS(E) this Sketch! #139

The card I made for this challenge uses a very old, but favorite, SU! image as well as a NBUS embossing folder. I love coloring this image with Copics and in particular the pots. The image was stamped and colored. Next I embossed a second piece of white cs and then die cut the center. The embossed layer was trimmed and then I attached all three layers.

NBUS Challenge #5

 

Another Darnell NBUS challenge so that means another card using a NBUS product. My NBUS is the stencil from Stamplorations.

This card was a lot of fun making as I began by stenciling the butterflies at a class. We were working on anything we wanted and some of the ladies were using embossing folders. So I took this stenciled piece and ran it through the Cuttlebug with an unknown embossing folder. The next day I began to play some more and used two different dies. What is interesting is that the solid die is not paper but rather a piece of foil from a peanut can. Really. One of the ladies is big into recycling and she introduced this clever idea a year ago. The stenciled/embossed paper was attached to blue card stock and then white card stock.

CASology: Week 162 WRITE

This adorable Purple Onion stamp is the only one that came to mind for this challenge and it is my first time using it. This really is a CAS card and I started by stamping the image on a snippet of wc paper and heat embossing and using copics. I made the envelope from a MFT die cut and it was attached to the base card and then I mounted the letter. That is it - CAS.

Shery's Popped Hop - HAPPY BABY, RUSS FAMILY

I made this card for Shery's Popped Hop. Shery is very supportive of all card makers and contributes her products to many challenges. I appreciate her kindness and her many talents.

I used the embossing folder/ink/water technique inking the back of the ef, spritzing with water and then laying the paper on top and tapping lightly. When dry I stamped and heat embossed the baby image and the sentiment attached to a piece of pink cs and then mounted onto the base card.

Addicted to CAS - BLUE

I love the creative process of making my own background paper. This piece was made several weeks ago when my card making group was playing with ink, water and embossing folders. When the cue word was blue I looked in my UFO box and this piece looked perfect. The process was to ink an embossing folder, spritz with water and then lay the paper on top and tap with your hand. I stamped the sentiment and then die cut three times the paint brush, which I colored with distress ink. I had been waiting for some time to use this NBUS stamp.
