CASology Week 110 - LETTER

This card is for CASology's week 110 and the cue word is letter. I wanted to use the NBUS stamp and while in the shower yesterday the omg came to mind. What transpired next has taken two days of my life. I had more than a dickens of a time getting the stamp to imprint and used Versafine, Memento, Memento London Fog, Memento Rich Cocoa, Archival Brillance, VersaMark and finally Ranger Brillance Graphite Black. I embossed and heat set, I stamped off, I used the craft table and finally used the kitchen counter. I think the most frustrating part of this is that the image of the stamp front is not what imprints. Once I chose an image, actually two, I colored slowly with copics the broken ornament, added some gold At You Spica pen and then added Glossy Accents. The image sat overnight while I cooled off and I continued today. I might add that I had as much trouble with the letters as the set from Michael's was goofy looking and I even stamped the g upside down. While looking at blogs this morning someone used a die cut letter so I grabbed MFT die cut but the letters were too large and then I remembered I had a set from Cuttlebug. These letters were die cut with Neenah cs and then I colored the letters with copic markers. I trimmed "bad puppy" and then used gold cs to mat this image and then attached this piece to a second piece of Neenah. The letters were applied with a glue pen and lastly I rounded the bottom corners.

Oh what a mess!

CAS(E) this Sketch! #89

This card for CAS(E) this Sketch uses some NBUS and some materials I will call leftover. Typically I stamp and/or color images more than once and then they are placed in a box. For this card I retried this stamped and bleach colored image. The image I borrowed from a friend and since then purchased my own when it was on sale. The sentiment is from an older SU! set but I had not used this particular stamp. I matted the flower image onto black cs using a NBUS Mini  Perfect Layers set which was given to me this weekend when friends visited. And lastly I used this NBUS textured paper that I purchased at the MFT store while on vacation. So guess you can call this a card of firsts.

Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes

This card is for Seize the Birthday and anything goes. Long ago when our boys were still at home and in school we had two kittens, one yellow and one gray. My husband took an early retirement and we moved to the mountains and both cats came with us and they continued to live for quite some time.

The image is from LOTV and their drawings are made for using copic markers. After the kittens were colored I die cut them. The background paper was attached to the base card and the colored image was adhered with mounting tape. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed. The card layout if from Seize the Sketch #24.

Seize the Sketch - A Fond Farewell

Sadly this will be the last post for Seize the Sketch. Although I have only been submitting cards to this challenge for a couple of months it has become one of my favorites. I really like this sketch and thought of this design quickly and finally found the time to put it together. Thank you Lesley and design team members for a fun and creative adventure.

First I die cut the two squares and then stamped with VersaMark the images and then heat embossed with white. It became an adventure to find white embossing powder. The two images were attached to a piece of white card stock and then I punch a hole in the corner and attached the cute pewter snowflake brad.  The next layer was  embossed with a snowflakes embossing folder and then this was attached to the base layer.

This card is for CASology and the cue word is JAVA. The stamps are from Purple Onion Design which were stamped onto Neenah paper and colored with copics. This piece was die cut and mounted onto a second piece of card stock and the sentiment was stamped.

ADDICTED TO CAS: GEOMETRIC

This card is for ATCAS with the code word of geometric. I played with another idea and then I cleaned my sponges and I always clean them on a clean sheet of card stock because you never know what will appear. This colored piece is what I came up with so I found this NBUS stamp set and randomly placed the circular flowers. The paper was set aside for a couple of days and today I set about to make a card and it took a lot of time but I cut the piece into a 4 x 4 square and positioned it onto another piece of white card stock. Next I had to find a sentiment, first I looked at dies but then I found this very old SU! set and decided I would make a Hanukkah card for some new friends who are Jewish. I am sure she will appreciate a handmade card as she makes jewelry.

In posting this card I inadvertently deleted my last post which is a card for CAS and so now I will have to go back and resubmit the card because I don't know how and could not figure out how to retrieve it.

So I cleaned two sponges that held distress ink and moved them in a circular motion. I stamped the flowers with black ink. Next I chose the base card stock and centered and stamped the sentiment. The image was adhered with mounting tape and I added a little bling and Wink of Stella.

Seize the Birthday - "Anything Goes"

Last night we hosted twenty people on our patio for a wine party. This was our first time and I worked for two days making sure the yard looked great and it did. But boy oh boy is this bod out of shape and for two mornings in a row I woke up hurting. So today I decided I was going to play and I got out containers of previously colored pieces of art and decided to create.

This card is for Seize the Birthday and it is on the CAS side but it is dramatic. The butterfly had been stamped on paper that had been inked and watercolored and it was stamped with memento ink and then die cut.  In the center of the butterfly I applied black stickles and I used wink of stella randomly. The background piece was stamped with  brushstroke stamps from SU! and MFT on white card stock and the sentiment was added.  Tiny drops of wink of stella were placed sparingly. The butterfly was attached with mounting tape onto the background paper and then attached to a piece of SU! elegant eggplant and then a second piece of white cardstock.

SEIZE THE SKETCH #26

I have competed in card challenges for a year and a half and concentrated on only two.  Lately I have expanded to other challenges primarily because I have mastered submitting my cards (I think). It has been a journey for me and I have struggled but patience from the mister who knows jack-diddly about PC's, he is a MAC snob, and my granddaughter who lives far away, I now feel confident to venture beyond CAS.  What I mean is it would take me an hour to submit one card so I would not do more than two cards in a week. This card is for Seize the Sketch and I like this new way of creating.

Last week I saw card-making friends who commented that my cards don't look like "me," meaning they are not colored with copics and have at  least four layers of paper. I tried to explain that I am expanding my creativeness and it is not only a lot of fun but I am happy with my accomplishments. I reach a milestone birthday at the end of the year and I am pleased with my growth in cardmaking - you can teach an old dog new tricks.

This card for Seize the Sketch uses pieces I had previously made like the butterflies and the background paper. When everything was assembled I took a couple of photos but they did not look good so I added dot and dash lines to the outline of each butterfly. The center is black stickles. I used one of my remaining pieces of SU! apricot appeal cardstock, this is a discontinued color but it is nice shade of yellow/orange.

CASology: Week 108 M A G I C

For this CASology cue word of magic took some thinking.  I decided rabbit pulled from a hat was a good choice and I set out to find a rabbit stamp, done.  The hat was more difficult and I went to google and looked up top hat and made a sketch and cut it out, no good.  Next I looked at all my dies and found this tag die which I cut in black cardstock, trimmed it and added the brim.  The rabbit I stamped onto a piece of ivory cardstock and colored the inner ear with pigment ink and then it was fussy cut. These two pieces were attached to a piece of neenah and then I stamped the sentiment and the asteriks and added bling.  This piece was mounted onto a second piece of neenah with mounting tape.

Seize the Birthday - Monochromatic Yellow

This card for Seize the Birthday contains two of my newest purchases.  I am very fond of My Favorite Things and was fortunate to visit their store in Eustis, Florida this summer and purchased a few items.  This past week they had a sale and I purchased more of their stock namely the stamp and die sets of this hibiscus.  Hopefully tomorrow our gardeners will be planting a hibiscus in our yard although I requested orange.  Over the weekend I made a quick stop at one of the nicer JoAnn stores, many are not acceptable, and they had Darice embossing folders 5 for $10.  I am not one to pass up a good deal despite the fact that I have way to many folders and all of the folders I bought were ones I did not have (I hope).  I chose this musical note folder because it seemed to fit well with a birthday card.  I used the layout from Seize the Sketch #24 which I like.

All of the paper is SU! and all of the dies are MFT.  First I had to go to Splitcoast Stampers and find out how the die set went together and then I proceeded to stamp and die cut.  I am not sure if you should die cut and then stamp.  I die cut the fishtail and then stamped the sentiment and then assembled the flower.  I embossed daffodil delight cardstock with the musical note folder.  The base card is SU! designer paper.

CAS(E) this Sketch! #87

 

For CAS(E) this Sketch the challenge is "Tag You're It." I think this is my first challenge where I have made a Christmas card. My supply of holiday paper is unexciting so I stopped by JoAnn's and their supply was equally as poor. I remember last year I went on a quest to find holiday paper in August and it was pathetic. The next choice to find paper is to find a stamp/craft store but they are quickly disappearing from our area. So for this card I used white cardstock, kraft cardstock and paper scraps.

The die cut tag is kraft paper. I stamped and fussy cut the two trees on paper scraps and cut the trunks from brown snippets and attached to the trees. The sentiment was stamped and then I added the snow drops, red bling and baker's twine. The white cardstock was embossed with a wood grain folder. The tag was attached to the wood grain and that was attached to the kraft base.

CASOLOGY: Week 107 STRIPE

Whenever we are driving on our local freeway there is one location by Costco where the wires are loaded with birds.  I mentioned to the mister that there are always birds in this location and he said he noticed it too, and that he heard a woman feed the birds in an adjacent empty field.  Sounds logical but I would hate to park my card nearby. I often thought I should make a card of this sight so here it is.

First I rubbed distress ink on my craft mat and spritzed with water.  Four times I inked up a brush stroke stamp leaving space between each.  When the ink was dry I stamped and heat embossed the birds, and then stamped the sentiment. This piece was matted onto black cardstock and then using mounting tape I attached it to a white base cardstock.
