ATCAS - GRUNGE Week #37

I always have a new favorite thing and I guess it is the grunge stamp although I didn't know that was the name.  My first such stamp actually is the set Abstract Art from MFT and I have used it non-stop and so have some of my friends.  Next I purchased Gorgeous Grunge and then last week I purchased two more sets New Day and Positive Thoughts from Precious Remembrance.  So this afternoon I had a field day using all four sets and composing this little ditty.  Using three SU! stamp pads Coastal Cabana, Cameo Coral and Sahara Sand I began playing.  The sentiment is from New Day and it was stamped with black Versafine ink.  I have been trying to use up SU! cardstock that is old and almost depleted and as such the Cameo Coral is used as the mat.  The colored image was attached using mounting tape and then I used enamel dots from My Mind's eye.  Easy, clean and simple and oh so much fun.  In January my friend and I made 20 thank you cards for someone and we had a blast.  Nothing could be better than playing with ink, stamps, paper and your best friend.

CASology - Garden Week 92

It was easy to choose a stamp with flowers for this week's theme of "garden."  Yesterday the mister and I toured seven homes on our community's Garden Tour.  Each house was unique and ranged from elaborate to clean and simple.  The elaborate home was almost out of place for what I would consider to be average and looked more like a resort.  The clean and simple home was small in comparison to the first and had plants, flowers,  a dry creek bed and a magnificent view of the natural preserve which backs up to the homes on that side of the street, and a view of the ocean.  We were looking for ideas for our own garden which we are reworking.  I really enjoyed the garden art which many of the homes featured and one even had flowers painted on one of her stuccoed walls.  This garden card is a pleasant reminder of yesterday's visit to our neighbors gardens.

First I masked a square on a piece of Neenah paper and inked the edges with green ink.  When dry I stamped and heat embossed the flower image and colored with copics.  Next I carefully pierced the outside edge of the colored image using Tim Holtz's ruler.  The sentiment was stamped with versafine and then I rounded the upper corners.  The lower right hand edge needed something so I found a butterfly and stamped it in blue and then did the line work with a pen.  Lastly I added bling to the butterfly.

CASology Week 91: NOTE

For this CASology challenge I chose a very old House Mouse stamp.  I stamped all three stamp images on kraft paper with versafine and heat embossed.  The mouse was colored with SU water color pencils and a blender pen.  This layer was trimmed and the bottom edges rounded.  Next I attached some very old linen jute and then using mounting tape attached this to a second piece of kraft paper.

ATCAS - Week #36 FAR AWAY

This card for ATCAS is for the challenge of  Far Away.  I used a mask of Nestabilities Deckled Mega Rectangle and  sponged with Soft Sky and Pumpkin Pie SU! ink.  I trimmed the paper leaving a white edge.  The images were stamped with Versafine and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.   I matted the layer with SU! Soft Sky paper and then mounted on Neenah paper.   A score line was made on each side of the image.

The guest designer for this challenge is Anita from France a very giving and supportive fellow card maker.  She has been an inspiration to me since I began blogging and entering challenges.  It is only appropriate that I selected a globe considering I live in California and Anita in France.

CASology Week 90: WET

The first thing that came to mind with the cue word of wet was "rain."  Honestly I hate rain, really.  I grew up in Oregon a very beautiful state with lots of rain.  We did not have school buses and when I arrived at school I had wet shoes and mud splattered legs.  On a fonder note I had a very cute yellow slicker with collar, cuffs and pockets made out of black corduroy.  Back then I even was a brunette.

This image is from My Favorite Things which I inked with Memento and colored with copics.  I die cut the image with Lil Inkers.  I like to focus on parts of an image as I like the look.  Yellow, black and white are one of my favorite color combinations.  The umbrella was paper pieced with a snippet of polka dot paper.  The colored image was attached with mounting foam. The second layer of cardstock was embossed with Spots and Dots embossing folder. The sentiment is from Gina K.  The finished card is 4 x 5.

Addicted to CAS Challenge #35 - Wheels

So this card is for ATCAS with the theme of wheels.  This LOTV image reminds me of my husband who celebrates a birthday next week.  He is not only vintage and a classic but he owns a classic vintage 1930 Ford Model A street rod.  His car is a pretty shade of blue and he loves to wear a cap like this one, and he likes orange.  Orange!  So I guess this card is for Cal my better half for almost 47 years.  Yikes!

This card is pretty basic I stamped the image with memento ink and colored with copics.  The sentiment I stamped off once so it looked muted.  Thenhttp://addictedtocas.blogspot.com/2014/03/challenge-35-wheels.html I punched the corners and mounted the image on a second piece of card stock.  Easy card, cute image and I think Cal will like it.

CASology Week 89: Joke

Well this card for CASology's joke, is not a haha joke it is more like a joke on me.  See several weeks ago I was going to submit a card for a theme of luck.  I made this card three times and finally on the last time it looked good but then I saw the sentiment was upside down.  Rats!  So the card got shelved and then when I saw the theme of joke I decided to post this card for CASology.

The image was stamped on Neenah with Versafine and heat embossed.  Then I matted the image and sponged on SU! Soft Sky ink.    The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed.  Then I layered the image onto a second sheet of white card stock.  Is that when I noticed my goof?  I don't know, can't remember.  The image and sentiment are from two different Unity stamps, "Good Day Sunshine" and "Best Things Just Happen."

FYI -I struggle with submitting cards almost every time but I have not given up yet.  The last time I submitted a card was for Anita's birthday and it was not correct.  I think I hit preview instead of publish.  It was called to my attention but I chose not to correct it and the reason was while I was posting my left hand froze, as if I was holding a ball.  Egads talk about scary.  I waited a few minutes and then feeling came back into my hand and I finished the post, albeit incorrectly.  Since that infamous day I have been wearing braces on both wrists and trying not to do much typing.  Right now I am wearing one brace on my right hand.  Pain in both wrists happened to me once before and it is just over using my hands.  We are going away for a few days and hopefully time away from card making and the computer will help my carpal tunnel wrists.  Getting old is a pain in the butthttp://casology.blogspot.com/2014/04/week-89-joke.html and the wrists.
