CASology: Week 95 "SPLASH"

The mister and I just returned from a great trip to the south.  Our former neighbors live about 20 miles from Eustis, Florida and lucky me got to pay a visit to My Favorite Things boutique store.  The town of Eustis was very charming and MFT was as cute as one would imagine it to be.  I spent enough money that my purchases were shipped home and they arrived before me.

The two stamps I used for this card I purchased on my journey to MFT.  First I inked the background stamp with distress ink and then spritzed with water and stamped on Neenah paper.  When the ink was dry I stamped the ship image with Versafine and heat embossed.  I chose a sentiment that I felt fit the size of the stamped images.  Before mounting this piece I used a SU! corner punch.  This was a quick card to make and would be easy to repeat with the other two masculine stamps in this set, an old auto and a train engine.

Addicted to CAS: GRUNGE

This is the first time I have submitted two cards to one challenge.  Karen Dunbrook's cards are an inspiration to me and one of her recent cards she used a technique using paint and an embossing folder. I looked at the YouTube instructions (Audrie) and this was one of several pieces of paper I played with.  Another new technique and it was so much fun - try it. 

So first I was fortunate enough to have the supplies: watercolor paper, Distress Paint and Glimmer Mist.  I only had two paints both blue and thought I must have bought them in error because they are paint daubers.  From several years ago I had a box of Glimmer Mist leftover from a class.  I dabbed paint on the embossing folder and spritzed it with Glimmer Mist rather than water and placed the paper inside the folder and lightly tapped.  The look is meant to be blotchy.  When the cardstock was totally dry I stamped and heat embossed the image which is a grunge type stamp.  Then I mounted the watercolor to black cardstock and  Almost Amethyst paper.  This stamp is from Unity's stamp of the week.  I decided to use this card as a sympathy card to a friend who is an artist and I think she will like the uniqueness of this card.

CASology Week 93 - ELECTRIC

I decided to use this NBUS stamplfrom Unity's stamp of the week.  When I die cut I try to center the negative piece and then file it away in a plastic sleeve that way I may have the shape I will need for sponging.  So I found this oval shape and masked the white cardstock and applied SU! daffodil delight ink with a sponge.  When the ink was very dry I stamped the image and sentiment with Versafine and heat embossed.  A snippet of SU! designer paper was stamped with the shade part of the stamp and then I cut the shade and applied it to the lamp.  Using mounting tape I attached this to colored cardstock rather than another piece of white cardstock.  CAS card that came together easily and no goof-ups in the trash.

ATCAS - GRUNGE Week #37

I always have a new favorite thing and I guess it is the grunge stamp although I didn't know that was the name.  My first such stamp actually is the set Abstract Art from MFT and I have used it non-stop and so have some of my friends.  Next I purchased Gorgeous Grunge and then last week I purchased two more sets New Day and Positive Thoughts from Precious Remembrance.  So this afternoon I had a field day using all four sets and composing this little ditty.  Using three SU! stamp pads Coastal Cabana, Cameo Coral and Sahara Sand I began playing.  The sentiment is from New Day and it was stamped with black Versafine ink.  I have been trying to use up SU! cardstock that is old and almost depleted and as such the Cameo Coral is used as the mat.  The colored image was attached using mounting tape and then I used enamel dots from My Mind's eye.  Easy, clean and simple and oh so much fun.  In January my friend and I made 20 thank you cards for someone and we had a blast.  Nothing could be better than playing with ink, stamps, paper and your best friend.

CASology - Garden Week 92

It was easy to choose a stamp with flowers for this week's theme of "garden."  Yesterday the mister and I toured seven homes on our community's Garden Tour.  Each house was unique and ranged from elaborate to clean and simple.  The elaborate home was almost out of place for what I would consider to be average and looked more like a resort.  The clean and simple home was small in comparison to the first and had plants, flowers,  a dry creek bed and a magnificent view of the natural preserve which backs up to the homes on that side of the street, and a view of the ocean.  We were looking for ideas for our own garden which we are reworking.  I really enjoyed the garden art which many of the homes featured and one even had flowers painted on one of her stuccoed walls.  This garden card is a pleasant reminder of yesterday's visit to our neighbors gardens.

First I masked a square on a piece of Neenah paper and inked the edges with green ink.  When dry I stamped and heat embossed the flower image and colored with copics.  Next I carefully pierced the outside edge of the colored image using Tim Holtz's ruler.  The sentiment was stamped with versafine and then I rounded the upper corners.  The lower right hand edge needed something so I found a butterfly and stamped it in blue and then did the line work with a pen.  Lastly I added bling to the butterfly.

CASology Week 91: NOTE

For this CASology challenge I chose a very old House Mouse stamp.  I stamped all three stamp images on kraft paper with versafine and heat embossed.  The mouse was colored with SU water color pencils and a blender pen.  This layer was trimmed and the bottom edges rounded.  Next I attached some very old linen jute and then using mounting tape attached this to a second piece of kraft paper.

ATCAS - Week #36 FAR AWAY

This card for ATCAS is for the challenge of  Far Away.  I used a mask of Nestabilities Deckled Mega Rectangle and  sponged with Soft Sky and Pumpkin Pie SU! ink.  I trimmed the paper leaving a white edge.  The images were stamped with Versafine and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.   I matted the layer with SU! Soft Sky paper and then mounted on Neenah paper.   A score line was made on each side of the image.

The guest designer for this challenge is Anita from France a very giving and supportive fellow card maker.  She has been an inspiration to me since I began blogging and entering challenges.  It is only appropriate that I selected a globe considering I live in California and Anita in France.
