Seize the Birthday: Black and White

 This card is for the challenge at Seize the Birthday and the topping is black and white. I chose this silhouette image and stamped it with versafine,  heat embossed it and trimmed. Next I selected two pieces of Lasting Impressions paper and the sentiment from Avery Elle. I trimmed the sentiment tag and added a black embellishment.

MERRY MONDAY CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE #124

Hi! I am posting this card which I submitted earlier this week to CASology's Under challenge. Kimberly Wiener of wieneryhoneymooners.blog fame left a comment about this card and suggested I enter it into the Merry Monday current challenge - so here I am. This is my first time submitting a card to this challenge although I do follow some of the participants namely Bonnie and I think gads there is no way I could make a C card weekly. But recently I began to make my own C cards and have submitted a couple to other challenges. I guess MM challenges would work for me because I hate to mass produce as it works against my grain of creativity. Typically I stamp and use copics and when I stamp an image I stamp more than one and may only color one and the rest go into a container.

The story behind this card is I was making it to show at a card class I am teaching in three hours to a group of women who range in skill level. Having said that I usually teach techniques and for this card a couple of things one can do to a CAS card such as paper-pieceing, tearing paper for snow and using stickles. While I was making this card it dawned on me it would fit for CASology's cue word under. The rest is history I submitted the card Kim W liked it and suggest I submit it to MM.

Addicted to Stamps Challenge 111 - Anything Goes for Marie P

A post on Darnell's blog directed me to this card challenge for Marie. Making cards for those who are sick is one of the important things in my life so it gives me warm fuzzies to add to this collection of get well wishes.

For the past month or so I have tried to use up pieces of paper that I have played with and this background paper was colored using the embossing folder, ink and water technique. At some time I die cut butterflies and I was left with two open spaces so I stamped and die cut two more butterflies in a complimentary color. I added lots of bling and then I stamped the sentiment.

CASOLOGY Week 111 - UNDER

This card is being submitted to CASology Week 111 with the cue word of under. Early this a.m. I was preparing for a class I will be teaching on Friday to my card making group. My theme is CAS with designs of snowmen, penguins and an owl. I began this card with the ladies in mind who range in skill from very beginner to serious card makers. Typically for a challenge I would stamp on neenah cs and use copic markers but I have not, and probably will never, teach this group copics. As such I used Michael's cs and distress markers. I also did some paper piecing, tore some scratch paper for snow, used stickles and a gold Gelly Roll pen. When it dawned on me this image would work for "under" I decided to expand my original layout. The cuttlebug and dies will not be included in this class. However for this challenge I chose to die cut the base cs and the image with Lil Inkers rectangular dies. The image was mounted  and the sentiment stamped.

CAS(E) this Sketch! #90

This card for CAS(E) this Sketch is made up of some older supplies. The base cs is old SU! perfect plum, the die cut is MFT which I have used once before and the bling is very old from JoAnne's. The designer paper I made in a class using the technique of sponging the ink and when dry using a line art stamp.

Addicted to CAS - Code Word: LUXURY

I am posting this card for Addicted to CAS and the code word is luxury. The mister and I have been retired for a few years, he retired in his fifties, and we have been fortunate enough to take several cruises. For me cruising is a luxury and not because of the expense but because to me a cruise is like having a wife. Seriously. You get to your cabin and unpack and after that someone does everything for you. Make the bed, change the sheets, clean the bathroom, give you clean towels and puts a piece of chocolate on your pillow each night. Oh and least I forget cooks - all meals, any meals. Now does that sound like a wife to you? Needless to say there is much more to do on a ship including wonderful entertainment, dancing to live music, seeing a current movie and just plain having fun. There is no reason someone should or would get bored on a cruise. This year we are taking another cruise and this time to Hawaii at Christmas. The kids will be busy and that is the hard part about getting older, your kids have in-laws and their own children and their own plans and it can get a little lonely - so why not cruise to Hawaii for 15 days.

This is a MFT stamp which I stamped onto neenah paper and heat embossed and then colored with copics. After the sentiment was stamped I trimmed the piece and then mounted onto a luxurious piece of gold glittery paper and then mounted it onto a second piece of neenah.

Less Is More: Week 187 "LUCKY DIP"

The challenge at Less is More is Lucky Dip and the delightful Darnell is the guest designer. In honor of Darnell (Irma Iowa to me) I have made this colorful and charming card, much like her.

First I stamped and heat embossed the image and then colored with copics. I die cut the rectangle and attached it to a piece of textured sand cs. The sun was also die cut. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on a piece of white cs and then attached the beach and sun pieces.
