CAS Mix Up Card Challenge March 2016

Stamping - Watercolor - Embossing - Die Cut

This is my entry for the first CAS Mix Up challenge. I chose a piece of background paper that I previously made using the embossing folder, ink and water technique. For the butterfly I used VersaMark and gold embossing powder and fussy cut. I die cut the background piece and adhered it to red card stock and attached to the base card. I stamped and heat embossed the NBUS sentiment. Lastly I attached the butterfly with pop ups.http://casmixup.blogspot.com/2016/03/cas-mix-up-march-challenge.html

CASology: Week 186 "DISTRESS"

My very first thought for the cue word was the loss of a pet. Recently a friend lost her cat and she was devastated and I know the feeling. As card makers we always seem to be in need of a sympathy card and as we age we need them more often. Having said that I think it is nice to have a couple of sympathy cards specifically for pets. I have chosen an image from Paper Smooches and a sweet sentiment from Unity.
I die cut the image and then stamped and then colored with copics. SU! ink was lightly applied to part of the card front and then I dropped a small amount of water. The dog was applied with mounting tape, and then I stamped the sentiment.

Stamps - Paper Smooches "Chubby Chums," Unity - "...may hope sustain you."
Die - Paper Smooches "Chums"
Ink - Memento, Copics, SU! Soft Sky
Paper - Neenah

I made a second card and this will go to my friend whose furry friend has passed.

Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes" and HB Anita

I couldn't pass up making a card for Anita from France. Although the card will be late reaching her the sincere wish for a wonderful birthday remains the same.
I used the delightful WPlus9 Doodle Buds stamp set. The images were stamped on watercolor paper and colored with distress inks. The flying bug is actually another flower which I transformed into a bug. The images were attached to a piece of watercolor paper that I rubbed distress inks on and then splashed with water (I love the look). The base card is from Michael's.
If my cards appear less it is because I am teaching a beginning card making class in my retirement community. This year the new beginning class has eleven members, which is at least three too many, but regardless I love it. Fortunately I teach pretty much the same cards as last year and that way in a couple of months they will know all the techniques the intermediate class knows, such as smooching, masking, distress inks and so on. The most difficult thing to teach is how to stamp, but they mastered Washi tape.

Freshly Made Sketches - Sentiment

Goals for the new year are to use things in my UFO box and the NBUS box and to complete four unfinished scrapbooks.  For the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge I chose a piece of previously colored Brusho background paper and a snippet of distress ink colored paper. First I embossed the large piece and I die cut the small purple snippet. I found a die cut piece of black craft foam and attached the purple hugs piece which I applied wink of stella. All of these pieces I placed on a piece of black card stock which looked better than a piece of white. The texture of the brusho looks so good. Lastly I added a little bling.

Paper - watercolor, black card stock
Ink - Brushos, Distress Ink
Embossing Folder - Darice "Basket Weave"
Die cut - Lawn Fawn "hugs"
Other - Wink of Stella, black craft foam, crystal bling

CASology Week 182: ADORE

This card has NBUS stamps and die cut and the colored image was in my UFO box. This is only my second post this year and I can't remember how to post and the previous entry I made an error. Oh well.
This bunny image was stamped and colored with Copics and I attached it to the back of an embossed piece of card stock and then attached to the base card.

Stamps - Unity "Little Bunny For You," Recollections Valentine set (sentiment)
Die Cut - MFT "Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stax"
Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug "Small Hearts"
Ink - Copics, Memento
Paper - Michael's white card stock, Neenah

Card for Lucita and Seize the Birthday

Wow I have not posted a card for over a month. After I got all my Christmas "things" finished I decided to take a break from anything Christmas. The holiday was lovely however my children gave me a cold and I have been suffering for two weeks.
A card making friend sent me the below info about a young girl from Honduras who is fighting the cancer fight. I decided to submit this card for Lucita also to Seize the Birthday in hopes that the info may circulate.
The image is Penny Black and it was colored with Copics. I die cut with a MFT stitched die and then mounted onto pink SU! paper and then green card stock.

Stamps - Penny Black "Mimi in Paris"
Die Cut - MFT Pierced Square
Ink - Copics, VersaFine, GellyRoll white pen, Copic Multiliner
Paper - Lasting Impressions (green), SU! (pink), Neenah
